Ravna Archaeological and Ethno Park

A Journey Through Life, Tradition, and History

Overview

Located near Knjaževac, in the village of Ravna, the Ravna Archaeological and Ethno Park is a unique open-air museum that takes visitors back to rural life from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Within the park, visitors can explore an old Moravian-style house from Stara Planina, take part in workshops, and learn about the history, customs, and everyday life of this region.

The park was established near the ancient Roman fortification of Timacum Minus, while important archaeological finds are displayed in the building of the former village school. The courtyard features a lapidarium with Roman stone monuments, and one of the houses contains a wine museum with a wine collection in its cellar.

Ravna Archaeological and Ethno Park also offers a traditional pottery workshop, replicas of ancient and rural ovens, as well as summer schools of pottery, conservation, and archaeology for interested visitors. The atmosphere of the park combines ethnographic tradition with rich historical heritage, offering visitors a unique experience and insight into the life, customs, and art of the region.
